Starfish

There are numerous varieties of starfish available to hobbyists, from brown and reclusive, to gaudily colored Fromia and Linckias. Some species, like brittlet stars, make for excellent general scavengers and will clean spaces around and between rocks where few other animals can reach. Others, like Linckia sp, tend to be more delicate, but can make beautiful additions to a well established reef. Among the most commonly available starfish varieties are: Serpent & Harlequins, Brittles, Fromia sp, Linckia sp, Sandsifters, Chocolate Chips, Doughboys, and Basket Star

Starfish can make for excellent tank additions on their own, but work even more efficiently as an addition to one of our prebuilt cleanup crew packages. Please see our “Packages” section for larger mixed species groupings.
