Soft Coral

Soft corals are among the easiest to keep and make excellent additions to a reef aquarium for both novice and expert aquarists. The majority of these fast growing corals are tolerant of a wide range of tank parameters but most will do best under moderate light and modest to strong water flow conditions, though certain species can have exceptional requirements. Despite their reputation for preferring “dirty water,” soft coral will be healthiest with low nitrate levels, 8-11dKH, 8.2-8.4pH, and 350-450ppm calcium. Photosynthetic species are not known to feed aggressively, and do not require supplemental feeding. Some of the more familiar soft coral genera include: Sarcophyton, Lobophytum, Sinularia, Nephthea, Xenia, Clavularia, Capnella, and Klyxum.
All soft coral pieces are “What You See Is What You Get.” Photos are taken under a combination of ATI T5s unless otherwise noted. The color of any coral may vary under different lighting arrangements.
