NPS

Nonphotosynthetic Coral (NPS) animals are those that do not gain sufficient/any nutrition from lighting, and as such must be fed on a regular basis in order to be kept healthy. There are a wide variety of animals that fall under this heading, each of which will have distinct feeding and environmental requirements. These unusual animals are suggested only for hobbyists who are able to meet their dietary demands on a long term basis, and are not normally recommended for novice aquarists. Some of the more common NPS include: Tubastrea, Dendronephthya, Rhizotrochus, crinoids, many gorgonians, sponges, and tunicates.
All NPS are “What You See Is What You Get.” Photos are taken under a combination of ATI T5s unless otherwise noted. The color of any coral may vary under different lighting arrangements.
